Inquisitive, gobbledygook-slaying writer seeks excellent clients

So, why work with me?

I specialise in writing about technical and complex topics in a clear, engaging way.

I’ve always been the go-to person for untangling tricky sentences or striking the right tone, whether for colleagues or friends.

Working on health projects in the global South taught me how important clear, accessible writing is. Especially when you’re explaining complicated information to non-specialist audiences.

(I also honed my research skills on everything from foreign policy to the costs of keeping donkeys in rural Zambia…)

I don’t have a traditional tech background — and that’s often a strength. I bring curiosity, rigour, and a fresh perspective that helps me translate specialist knowledge into content that actually makes sense to the people reading it.

I had a real BINGO! moment when I discovered how to use storytelling to breathe life into facts and figures.

And realised business writing doesn’t have to be dry and dull — it can be lively, engaging, and human. (DOWN with corporate gobbledygook!)

Finally, as an ex-project manager who’s hired many consultants, I know that good writing alone isn’t enough when you’re looking for a freelancer.

You also need someone who’s reliable, organised, and easy to work with. That’s me!

Before I became a freelance writer in 2019, I worked as a project manager in international development, mental health support worker, charity fundraiser — and even crewed on a Red Sea dive boat.

Eventually, I decided to make a living out of my geeky love of words and my knack for writing, editing, and storytelling.

I studied social anthropology at uni, because I’ve always been nosy, ahem, fascinated by human behaviour — and the way you can find the familiar in far-flung places, and the unfamiliar right on your doorstep.

When I’m not writing, you’ll usually find me with my nose in a book, eating cheese, or roaming on the beach near my home (possibly all three).
